Hey there, thanks for being here. As always, I hope you are happy and healthy.
It’s been a while. I felt like my creative abilities slipped away from my finger and like there was nothing for me to write, nothing that I thought was worth your time. But I am simply reminding myself, that something is better than nothing, and those meant to see these will see them. So to you, thanks for allowing me to find comfort with the uncomfortable, which is my limit.
A few years ago I found myself believing the world was so small. Any hardship that I would endure felt as if the entire world shrunk and tried to royally torment me. I was in a place where I would constantly say “Today just sucks.”
Those simple three words delivered so much more pain than I would have predicted. Whether you believe it or not, what you say is what becomes. So when I found myself murmuring phrases that muted the happy possibilities on the outside, I became mute myself.
The only way to pull myself out of a spot that viewed the world as grey was to be present. I had heard what presence meant for a while but truly didn’t know how to embody it.
What I learned was that being present allows you to see beauty and peace in even the grey. It allows you to view situations without anticipation but with excitement and vulnerability. It allows you to feel compassion for the simple and out of your control like the rain pouring.
Do not let a drop of rain or an entire thunderstorm dampen your mental periphery. Your brain can only be as safe as the things you think and your body can only be as strong as the words you speak.
The things that are out of your control should also be out of your mind. There are forces that are out of our reach and for some can determine the way they feel. I have seen friends that make the rain a reason for why they are in a bad mood, and I have seen friends who allow that mood to entirely consume them.
When you can understand that the rain is out of our control and is something that gives proof that life keeps going, then there will be less to hurt you. We as humans feel and endure a lot, so why allow the outside forces to have a spot in your mind?
Make your mind a clean and safe place. Like I have said and will continue to say, you are the creator of your book, make the book a safe place and one to keep reading. You are more than a drop of rain or an entire thunderstorm. Your mind is worth more than what you cannot control.
Thanks for being here. I’ll see you when I see you.
Best,
Chronicles of Life from an Outstander
